Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
Codestroke ("we", "us", the "Service") is a free typing speed test for
developers, available at
codestroke.dev. This Privacy Policy
explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you
have. By using Codestroke, you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
-
Account information. If you create an account, we
store your username and email address.
If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address
from Google to create and identify your account.
-
Typing test results. When you complete a test, we
store performance data such as CPM (characters per minute), WPM,
accuracy, the language practiced, test duration, and timestamps.
-
Local device storage. If you use Codestroke as a
guest, your recent results and preferences (theme, settings) are kept
in your browser's local storage on your device — not on our servers —
until you clear them or create an account.
We do not collect payment information, and Codestroke is
completely free to use.
2. How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To calculate and display your statistics, history, and progress.
- To send account-related emails (for example, email confirmation).
- To maintain, protect, and improve the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-party services
We rely on a small number of trusted providers to run Codestroke:
- Supabase — authentication and database (stores your account and results).
- Google — optional "Sign in with Google" login.
- Resend — sending transactional emails such as confirmation links.
- Vercel — website hosting and delivery.
These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy
policies.
4. Cookies and local storage
Codestroke uses your browser's local storage to remember your settings
and guest progress, and Supabase uses secure storage to keep you signed
in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
5. Data retention and deletion
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. You are in
control:
- You can clear your logs and statistics from your profile at any time.
-
You can permanently delete your account from your
profile page. Deleting your account removes your profile, session
history, and statistics from our database.
6. Children's privacy
Codestroke is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly
collect personal information from them.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be
posted on this page with an updated date above.
8. Contact
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, contact us at
